What else uses the Backup and Restore executable?

    Hi

I don't use either Backup or Restore having other alternatives and the OS file that copes with this is sdclt.exe. What else requires the Windows Backup service as I do not see any recommendations anywhere to disable this even when you might have other solutions as I do. Is it perhaps the system file checker that requires it?

Hmm ... I do not have a definitive answer for you but ..

Im guessing its fine to disable if you have another backup plan in action.

And the only reason I would say that is Acronis 2012 disables Windows Backup and restore and integrates itself in that area of the Control panel, as well as context menus.

Granted, I never disabled anything, Acronis did this on its own.
But I have had no issues (at least since Acronis was last patched), so perhaps theres nothing else tied to it?

Again, I do not know for sure. All I know is mine has apparently been disabled since I installed Acronis.

    Hi

I'm not that bothered about disabling the service but I came across a possible security problem with an associated dll becoming infected - just a little trimming really since I never use it. I'll have to check the Task Manager next time I use SFC. Thanks.
