startup repair runs automatically in safe mode ... also in normal mode I assume (?)Start-up repair runs automatically when I open in Safe Mode. Then it 'fixes' whatever is wrong and restarts Windows. But nothing is actually fixed. And when I do System Restore, it runs and then when it restarts, it gives me the error message that says that it failed to restore.
But then you can't start windows at all... I'm confused.
What is wrong ? click "view diagnostics" when doing startup repair. What has it fixed or was trying to fix?
You can try system restore in "recovery environment". Does it give you an error?
You can use any x64 win7 dvd (home premium, professional etc). Don't you have such DVD? Borrow one from neighbour or let him make a "repair disk"
System Recovery Options
6. Select the system recovery option you want to do. (See screenshot below)
None of those are options on the screen where I am right now. I'm on the Advanced Boot Options screen.
The options are:
'Repair Your Computer'
'Safe Mode'
'Safe Mode with Networking'
'Safe Mode with Command Prompt'
'Enable Boot Logging'
'Enable low-resolution video (640x480)'
'Last Known Good Configuration'
'Directory Services Restore Mode'
'Debugging Mode'
'Disable automatic restart on system failure'
'Disable Driver Signature Enforcement'
'Start Windows Normally'
Once again.. what problem did startup repair fix ????? see "view diagnostics" or someting like that when performing startup repair. please tell me, Because once fixed it stays fixed. Unless... you have a really nasty rootkit
The bootsect command recreates the standard MBR... so doesn't damage anything. So why it give you any problem?
Do a offline scan with hitman pro to check if you have a rootkit virus!!
