Here's what I get when I make the disc through "Run"; create in Start/Search gets it.

Just tried the disk and it seems to work fine. Went as far as getting to the repair/recovery options.

Hello Mike,

Just so you know, this is a bootable recovery disk in case you can't boot up your computer, not a restore disk. It doesn't contain the OS, just tools to try to fix your installation. Cmd prompt and such. It can be put on a CD or DVD. Having it on your hard drive defeats the purpose.

Hi,

Maybe yours is corrupted Shawn - does it look like this?

This is the one I copied to my data partition - that was back in November, so it must be from 6801 build

Maybe it didn't work on 6801, but works on 7000?

Funny thing is , I didn't do anything with it - partly because you don't need it if you have the dvd, and partly because it hadn't worked when Shawn tried.

It will be useful for those with OEM preinstalls - they won't need to d/l the recovery iso from Neosmart like they do with Vista.

Strange so many people think it is in the 200mb system partition - it would be a very tight fit.

Haha. Guess what. After all this I can type 'system' into the search bar and Create a Recovery Disc is one of the options. Not the first, but its there. Makes me think even more that I just haven't given 7 enough down time to complete it's indexing. Think I'll leave it running tonight and see what it's like in the morning.

Yeah, I screwed up the title, I put restore when I meant recovery.

Maybe Shawn will fix it.

It's good to know that it works in the 7000 build now. It's just that it did not work in the earlier builds that I have tried.

I like the fact that you do not need a ISO or installation disk to make it to.

I will need to do a tutorial on this one soon.
