backup on partition ?
hi i want to make a back up of my os c:drive, on to my d:drive so do i have to make a partition first to put it on? thanks (please don't email me your reply 'cause it doesn't work)

Yes you can create a back up of your C drive to the D drive. Of course you should have the D partition first to be able to save the backup.

That's the point i wanted to make! When Dinesh said that you do need another partition to backup,the following post which i've quoted above,sort of contradicted by saying that you "don't need a SEPARATE partition,no". Just wanted you folks chipping in and giving the @OP ,the answer which does not confuse,but clarify!

The answer is no. An image of C can be stored on D, which has already been made. There is no need to "make a partition first".
Sreedhav: I don't know what you have done. Obviously an image of C cannot be stored on C, but that it not what the OP asked about.
