Laptop-To-DesktopVia USB?

My daughter suspects her laptop will die soon so she has asked me to save her data before it self-destructs. She has approx. 35 GB of data. My first thought was to simply USB it to my desktop, which has more than enough free space. Feasible, yes?

thnx.

Sure. You might want to use a backup program (like Acronis true image home) to compress the image. I dont suggest dragging and dropping for you may get data corruption.

If you have USB 2.0 it will be relatively easy, and if USB 3.0 much faster.

thnx Z! I use tera-copy (forgot what I originally got it for) and was hoping to drag-drop/copy-paste. Most if not all the stuff is music, pix & docs. - 'May' get data corruption? How about if I do it in small chunks at a time. If corruption occurs will the file/s affected be identified?

The trial is free and it is fairly straight forward to use. It is basically bullet proof and I have not had it fail on my yet.

Plus it can convert the built in windows backup to their own format and their format to windows build in format so it is extremely flexible.
