    Lock Down System Restore Settings

I would like to "lock down" the system restore settings after I set it up on my main hd. For some reason it gets changed by either my setup of "daily disk cleaner" or Ccleaner or some other program.

Any tips would be greatly apreciated
    Thank You

    Hello Rockit,

Usually these settings will not change after set unless you go back and change them again. What specific setting is being changed from what to what?

I have the main drive turned on and set to 30%. About once a week it resets to the default or about 5%? Not sure what is reseting it? There is more than enough room on the hd (currently 250 gig free).

    Thanks

I'm not sure what may be resetting it.

Do you remember doing anything each time right before this happens that may be responsible?

Did you install anything before this started to happen?

Not sure this is relevant, but reserving 30% of your drive space seems rather a lot and I'm just wondering if Windows is a bit uncertain of the size and deleting restore points in the manner it would do if the space allocated for shadow storage gets too big.

Don't forget that Windows will complain once free space becames critical and if you add that to the 30% for system restore it takes care of nearly half your drive space.

Have you tried dropping the system restore setting back to the default of 10%?

I'm not sure what is changing it but I will keep a daily eye on it for awhile. I also set it at 20% as a compromise

I also have my swap file set at min & max @ 4gig. I just replaced the motherboard (DFI Lanparty Ultra-d) and am trying to get it tweaked out after a fresh install of Win 7 Premium 32 bit.

I do have 4 gig of dual channel ram (3 usable).

Some of the hardware just doesn't like the 64 bit version.

It would be nice to be able to lock down the system restore. I was just wondering if I was missing some reg setting or something.

    Thanks Again
