If you have programs on that drive, Windows imaging will include it. I use free Macrium for imaging because it is a lot more flexible and reliable than Windows imaging which always has surprises in store. With Macrium you would not have that problem. Imaging with free Macrium
Another (slim) possibility could be that the bootmgr landed on the F drive. You better check that. If F is active, there is a chance that this happened. If that is the case, move it to C:. Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD
