Complications with system image recovery onto a new SSD

    If you have programs on that drive, Windows imaging will include it. I use free Macrium for imaging because it is a lot more flexible and reliable than Windows imaging which always has surprises in store. With Macrium you would not have that problem. Imaging with free Macrium

    Another (slim) possibility could be that the bootmgr landed on the F drive. You better check that. If F is active, there is a chance that this happened. If that is the case, move it to C:. Bootmgr - Move to C:\ with EasyBCD

    Well, when I was back onto my system I copied over onto an external drive a couple more critical files that I was concerned about. Now, I will erase the drives i no longer need and do a fresh install of windows

    Before you put a new installation on the SSD, you might want to do a Secure Erase with Gparted. That puts the SSD back to factory state. Gparted is compatible with most SSDs. http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?67253-Alternative-to-HDDerase-(Gparted)-compatible-with-AHCI-!
