Set up backup, not seeing USB devices?

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and am trying to setup a backup of some files using the inbuilt 'Set UP Backup' utility but in the list of backup destination devices I can only see the DVD drive even thought I have a USB stick plugged in. I have tried the USB stick in all 3 available ports but no luck.

Any input would be much appreciated.

The USB stick probably isn't recognised because it's not large enough to hold the backup. I think also the backup drive needs to be NTFS, FAT, or UDF file systems (a flash stick will most likely be FAT32) Hope this helps

You could always make the stick NTFS and try that??

Open a command prompt;
type and press enter after each command -
list disk (carefully take note of the USB drive you want to use)
select disk # (# = the number you noted in the above step)
warning   Warning
This will wipe the drive so make sure the drive number is correct

create partition primary
select partition 1
format fs=ntfs quick

Also, the drive cannot be encrypted.
