    Capdileo,

    ad 1) Yes the Linux recovery disc has a lot of restrictions. I have not used it in ages so I am not up to speed on all restrictions. But if you use the WinPE disc, you will be able to select a target partition.

    ad2) I am not really sure what you were trying to do. Just burn the .iso you downloaded from my Fileswap to a CD (I use ImgBurn for that). Then you should be in business.

    I have the feeling that you were handling the .iso like one would handle the WAIK. But that is a completely different program and the .iso IS already the final product (the WinPE recovery disc file). You only need to burn it to CD.

    Hello whs. Thanks for responding.

    Yes you are right. I handled your shared iso as WAIK to create a bootable rescue cd from the macrium program. I thought that the iso was the downloaded WAIK. I seem to be wrong then. I did wonder why the WAIK download from microsoft was 1.7 gb yet yours was just 164 mb! Lol

    So then i did burned it to a cd like i mentioned in my above post. I am just being appreshensive now about restoring since the restore wizard warns me of so many missing drivers. Need i not worry about those?

    Just ignore the driver messages and continue. They have no relevance.

    I suggest you make yourself a little 2GB test partition, move some data into it (I always use some picture folders) and take an normal image of that test partition. Then remove some data from this test partition. Then restore the image with your WinPE CD. If all folders you originally had are back, then you know it works.

    Wolfgang will this also work for future releases/updates of macrium or will it need updating from time to time.

    This is hard to say. Depends what they invent in future releases. If I could look into the future, I would probably be rich. But thanks for trusting me for that ability.

    @Danny

    Who knows what Macrium will do with future software releases?

    But I can say the Win PE restore .iso file whs has made will work with images made with previous versions of Macrium Reflect.

    Right, why don't we wait and see what happens in the future. Should there really be a major change that requires a new WinPE, I promise to upload a new one.

    Macrium will use the base Winpe.wim to build the upgrade. You can add drivers to make a custom Winpe.wim and use that as the base (select the "custom" button).
    But if the 1.7GB download is too big I would think WHS's download is the way to go.
    I don't update my repair pe every time Macrium has an upgrade.

    As I understand it even the V4 WinPE disk will be OK to recover v5 images so if you have a version that works on your PC you probably don't need to upgrade.
