    imaging

    I agree;nothing beats imaging.
    I was just referring to registry backup like system restore or tweaking as a step to use if you have a problem, do not want to take time for a an image recovery, and providing a registry restore will solve the problem..
    I have used Acronis' license for years. and it has saved the day on many ocasion.
    Nothing beats imaging -one program failed me once but it was free but for the most part imaging has been 99% reliable and effective..

    Although System Restore backs up more than just the registry, the registry is all you need to revert your system to a previous state.

    Advantages of ERUNT over System Restore are that:

    a. Each restore folder is standalone and independent of the others, minimizing the risk of restore failure;

    b. A restore can be done from outside Windows;

    c. ERUNT backups take up less space than System Restore’s restore points;

    d. ERUNT backups can be individually deleted;

    e. Restore points can suffer accidental deletion;

    f. Existing restore points are automatically deleted to make space for new ones, e.g. if insufficient disk space is allocated.

    Note: Restore points do not depend on each other in Windows 7 so can be individually deleted. This might not be so in Windows XP/Vista.

    ERUNT is compatible with Windows 7, but as in Vista it will only work correctly if you turn off User Account Control in Windows' Control Panel (move the slider to the lowest position).

    It can be set to run automatically once per day, at first bootup, without needing any separate scheduler program.

    posting

    I'm sorry I just read my post and yours but nothing prior to either.
    I think we are agreeing that system restore or tweaking.com's registry backup for Win 7 reverts the pc to a previous state and attends to most problems.
    Sometimes system restore fails oor does not do what we wanted, in this case it is necessary to utilize imaging to resolve an isse.
