I see core.img is listed.

hd0,msdos2 is definitely what is linux partition.
Can you boot using linux tools or linux live cd? If so find the UUID of the linux partition. Is it c44d0292-2966-4537-bbe8-4603b3de2c48 ?

Can you boot linux by marking sda2 (the linux partition) as active? Mark original parition as active to restore settings as they were. Post results
