I found this description of the acer s3 drives functions which is probably better than mine :P

There are two functions in an SSD + HDD solution:

    1. Quicker boot, or Rapid Resume
    2. SSD type performance, or Smart Response Technology SRT

With SRT it combines HDD+SSD into what looks like a big SSD. The good news is that this works really well. The bad news is that the S3 was an early model, and did not support a chipset that support Smart Response. So, the only thing Acer uses the SSD for is boot.

    hope that helps
20GB is too small for SSD to put windows on!! Unless you combine SSD and spinning disk in a very smart way. Simply saying... SSD and spinning disk are virtually one big disk. SSD is used automatically as a cache for most frequent files.

You wanna configure it that way I assume? SSD is empty now? So use Smart Response Technology! Or doesn't that work on your machine?

Same help needed as Zafod37 in september 2012

I am having the same problem as zafod37 with my acer aspire S3 391 as was answered by Kaktussoft in sept 2012 I have deleted my hard drive and onboard ssd, I tried the link given by Kakussoft https://www.wetransfer.com/dl/28pHuk...678f4ae55a9b2d but it no longer works which is not surprising as it is over 2 years ago it would be nice ifKaktusoft still had this software and I could have a copy

Sure you you need ACER backup software? I can repost the software in about 36 hours. I'm not at home right now.

I have the installation set on my acer laptop (but actually did uninstall the software).
Wanna have it? It's in folder C:\OEM\Preload\Autorun\APP\Acer Backup Manager
    Sinze 67MB, zipped 60MB

    How to transfer to you?
    Here it is WeTransfer
Just unzip it and run setup.exe

Would you or someone else mind uploading this file again?

I have the same exact problem after inheriting this laptop and doing a clean install.

    Thanks for your help!
