    System restore points missing

I would like to do a system restore, but when I try to do so (system protection/system restore), it tells me that "no restore points have been created on your hard drive".

2 weeks ago I successfully did a system restore, and I have not changed any settings since then. My recovery partition is still in place, the disk manager says the recovery drive has 8 GB out of 15 GB free. Could the restore point be in my recovery partition, but for some reason Windows isn't seeing it? How would I view the recovery partition to check?

Go to a command prompt and enter this:

    vssadmin list shadowstorage

What are the results of that command?

Thank you ignatzatsonic. The result is "No items found that satisfy the query."

I'm not an authority, but that would indicate you have no restore points.

    Don't know why.

I use it once or twice a month and it works for me at least 95% of the time.

There are threads on this forum about it failing to work properly, but I have not paid a lot of attention to them as it works OK for me. Drill down with the search tool and/or wait for more comments.

Have you recently used any disk tools on your drive---such as defragmenting, changing partitions, etc? Or made any system changes you can recall?

Can you manually make a restore point right now and confirm it with that vssadmin command?

Check this tutorial and see if you have the System Restore turned on.
