How do I set my system to last restore point at startup/shutdown?

I know the Title of this thread is somewhat misleading, but it's the best I could do with the limited characters. Plus, keep in mind I may be assuming a lot in this question, and please correct me where ever I may be wrong...

At my school, every time you shut down the computer it wipes all user data (I believe) from the primary drive (or partition). So, every time the computer is started the primary drive/partition reverts to whatever restore point the IT department has set.

I would like to do this to my personal computer, but the question is how? Is it something I can set the task scheduler to do? By doing some research on this forum I found that I can (not that I want to) create a new restore point at every start up with task scheduler, so it seems only logical that I can load a restore point of my choice at every start up without having to physically go into system restore at every start up.

I have 2x 600GB WD Velociraptors in RAID 0 configuration divided into 2 partitions. The (primary) C:\ contains Windows 7 Pro x64 and related files and the (secondary) G:\ has everything else (i.e. all of my developer tools, games, and misc files that all have a scheduled back up onto an external). I would like the C:\ to revert to the restore point of my choice at every start up.

If it is a "simple" script to perform this task...great! But, if it requires extreme diligence (like an entire IT department to maintain)... forget it, it's not that big of a deal.

I am a programming student, but not a programmer. So, you need not break the solution down into complete layman's, however, if it is too technical you may lose me.

Hello Dert, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You could turn on the Guest account and log on to it for everyday use. When you log out, that account resets back to default automatically. This may work for that.

    Hope this helps, :)

Resets to default (factory)? Would I lose all my Windows updates, updated drivers, etc...?

Thanks for the quick reply too!

Sorry, momentary brain fade. I see... use the admin account strictly for administrative <--(duh) duties, and have another account just for (like you said) every day use.

No worries, but yep it's just the Guest account itself that resets and not Windows 7.
