Startup Repair failure - 0x490 and 0xc0000225 error
Hi guys.
I'm new to this forum and I ask you for help.
Yesterday I repartitioned my 1TB HDD, because there was almost no space on C:. I tried to clean it with programs such as CCleaner or so, even manually (for ex. Temp folder) but it was still so little space that I decided to make C: partition bigger. So I downloaded EASEUS Partition Manager (more or less this was the name of the program) and shrunk my E: partition form approx. 912GB to 850GB. I also moved the whole data on this partition (I just used the slider in this program - I slided it max. to the right) and then chose an option to enlarge my C: partition. I didn't slide anything here, I just stretched the slider to the right so that C: got bigger by 50GB, so now it is approx. 100GB and there is 50GB of free space.
Then the program asked me to reboot and it performed a repartitioning process. It was completed successfully, BUT Windows just won't startup now. I now always get the message with a 0xc0000225 error if I try to boot it from HDD. So I searched for it up on the Internet and found that it can be repaired with a Startup Repair utility. After several failures to run this utility I finaly managed to run it today, after several hours of battle (it was just the boot order in BIOS) and started it.
I chose the first option (Startup repair) and let it run. It now says it can't solve the problem and if I click a little arrow to show the details of the problem, there is a big text saying:
Problem event name: StartupRepairOffline
Problem signature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problem signature 03: unknown
Problem signature 04: 40 (and the number here differs form time to time, it can sometimes be like 55, 40, 37, 34, 31, 29, 27, 26, 24, 23, 22, 21, 20, 19) <--- the number appears to lessen after each run of the Startup Repair tool O.o - i checked it and done so far more than 30 runs of this tool and it becomes less after each run, really... And I don't want to run it anymore form now, because I don't know what's going to happen if thin number reaches 0...
Probelm signature 05: ExternalMedia
Problem signature 06: 1
Problem signature 07:MissingOsLoader
OS version: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1045
Except Problem signature 04 the other numbers/text is always the same.
And then if I click to display the details of diagnostics and repair it says that most of tests were successful but the last two tests were failed. These are (I'm translating form Polish to English, so it probably won't be so accurate...):
Boot manager generic failure 0xc0000225

I really need your help and count on you guys, because it's a serious problem for me: my dad works on this computer (he makes projects in AutoCAD on Windows XP Mode) and I don't want to lose ANY data from HDD.
I also thought how to solve it if nothing comes to your mind: I could just disconnect the HDD from my computer, connect it to the other working computer (it is possible to connect 2 HDD's to 1 computer by SATA connector, isn't it?) and then just do a simple Ctrl C + Ctrl V to copy it to an external HDD which I would have to buy... Then format my HDD and do a clear install of Windows 7 (I've got x64 OEM Installation DVD) and then just do simple Ctrl C + Ctrl V in order to copy the data from external HDD into the freshly installed W7...
Again, I REALLY count on you, because for me the problem is really huge...
If you've got any questions just ask them and I'll try to answer them the best as I can, maybe we'll solve this problem together... :)
EDIT: when I reeboted my computer just a while ago there popped out a communicate form EASEUS Partion Manager, that the operation was successful, although I repartitioned my HDD yesterday evening and this communicate appeared then... so now it appeared for the second time... now I'm REALLY puzzled and I completely don't know what's happening to my computer And now the Startup Repair utility DOESN'T SHOW ANY PROBLEM! I was lucky to post my problem, so now you guys know what are the errors codes. And the most important: I still CAN'T RUN WINDOWS 7 PROPERLY, even after boot order change (and the thing that most worries me is that now, after the communicate from EASEUS the Startup Repair doesn't show any problem)...
Cheers,
Przemek
