Undo registry change
My name's andy... and I messed up (whew, weight off shoulders)
I'm ashamed to admit this but it is what it is and I need to correct it.
I was having an issue with sharing folders on one of my windows desktops, particularly "There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper".
So I found this There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper « Russ Brown Development . Seemed to be one of the few solutions out there. I ran the registry fix and it seemed to fix my issues. I'm not expert with the registry, but I have been in and out of it since Win95 so I feel confident when I make changes. This time I was to confident. For the first time that I can remember I didn't backup the registry before I merged the .reg files.
Problem now is that I can't get my firewall up and running. Going to restore defaults does nothing and I can't start the Windows firewall service. I've tried CCcleaner which did nothing. I'm not totally sure that the .reg edit caused this, or if this firewall issue was what was causing the issue in the first place. Either way I want to undo the registry merge I did. Attached are the two .reg files I merged. I opened them up to see what they did, to undo them, but there's a little to much greek in these ones. And of course system restore was turned off (left over from switching out c: drives a month ago and never set back up). However I do have a week's worth of backups of my c: from my Acronis True Image backups (can I just drag my registry hives over and and overwrite the current ones?)
any help would be great.
thanks.
