How to disable automatic restore point creation

I wonder if it's possible to disable automatic restore point creation, and ONLY have Windows 7 store on demand system restore points that I choose to manually create at my convenience. If I go to Administrative Tools/Task Scheduler/System Restore I find two schedule triggers. Will disabling those triggers achieve this? Will my restore points be deleted if I do this or just the schedule will be changed to on demand? Thanks

You can disable that task. Restore points aren't deleted if you do it. But why do you want to disable it????

    • Restore points will be created anyway when install windows updates, uninstall/install software.
Restore points are automatically created by System Restore daily (only if no restore point has been created last 7 days) and when System Restore detects the beginning of a change to your computer, such as when you install a program or a driver.

Why do you want to disable it?

A better approach for backup/recovery is System Imaging, and you can have more control...
