Cloning C Drive (Upgrading to Larger Drive)

    Hi

My C drive currently has 2 GB of free space left. I've tried uninstalling programs and defragmenting the drive but alas it doesn't help. I've ordered a larger SSD and I'm trying to clone my current C drive to an external hard drive.

Could you please recommend some software that would create a bootable clone? I have tried the trial version of Acronis Migrate Easy but it will not show my C drive.

    Thank you for your help!

I use Macrium Reflect to do this -- and the free version has this feature.

Image your C drive to the external using say free Macrium Reflect. Then when you have the new SSD just do an image restore to it. I'd only bother cloning (perhaps) if you have the new SSD and are ready to go. Imaging can achieve the same end result as cloning but much more efficiently.

    As Asus - P8Z68 V Pro Gen 3 has a uEFI/BIOS firmware.

I would look for a 3rd party Partitioning,Backup & Cloning software, which fully supports Windows 7/8, uEFI, GPT.
