    Reinstall windows and using back up


    Hello
    I need to change my OS to linux for some reasons but i want to keep my pc as it is later on when ill install windows 7 again.My question is:" Is it possible to back up my pc(im using Windows 7), save this back up, format to linux than later on install windows 7 and restore it with back up i made. dont want to loose data in my pc. if its possible whats the risk of loosing data?

    Hi,

    Yes, its easy to do what you want using FREE Macrium imaging software. These tutorials explain exactly what you need to do:

    Imaging with free Macrium
    MACRIUM REFLECT - Create Bootable Rescue USB Drive

    In summary:

    1. Create an image of the existing Windows installation (and data if required)
    2. Create a bootable DVD/USB to reinstall the image at a later date
    3. Format disk and install Linux

    If done correctly, the chance of losing data is very slim indeed.

    Yes ofcouse, it is possible... Backup is very important as you might require it for a later use.
