Backup image restored to new HD. Boot failure

I restored an image file of my boot drive to a new HD, which is Win7-64. When I rebooted, I went into bios and put new HD as the only boot drive. When the new HD boots, it gives me the following error message: "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". I have not disconnected the old drive, so both are still connected. How do I get all the boot files to the new drive?

EDIT: Since I am able to boot with the old HD (and not the new one), I went in to disk management and made the new HD active. I only had to do this twice before it stayed active, but I keep getting the same error message. I will try the boot repair method using the Win7 disk.

If you reimage to the new HDD (with the old disconnected) and with the old HDD still disconnected can you boot - you should be able to. You need to be careful that all the boot files are on the new HDD and not both. When you reconnect the old HDD you will have a disc signature clash which should be seen as the old being "offline" in Disk Management. Setting it "online" will change the disk signature making it visible but not bootable.
