I reloaded Win 7 pro 64 on my machine
If this means you did a clean install I'm not sure why you are having these problem unless you or something has been fooling around in Windows Services.
By default after a clean install both restore point and backup should be working correctly without doing anything special.
What anti virus and or firewall programs are you using.
Where did you get you copy of Windows 7 Pro?
My research finds that your Ideacenter comes with Windows 8.
Western Digital disk or seagate? Errors in eventlog point to hardware errors. Use seatools (seagate disk) or datalifeguard (western digital disk) to check.
The computer came with Win 7 Premium but it had a bad hard drive on it after a couple of days. Got the new hard drive and installed Win 7 Pro.
This last install was clean if you mean a new install.
No one has been messing with anything but me and other than setting some permissions for wireless network access no major changes have been done.
I am using Avast with their latest version 8.0.1489 and Windows Firewall at whatever the default settings are.
I did run a boot scan after installing the Avast on the new Win and their were a lot of files from the windows.old folder that were corrupted. I can't say what it did to the new Win 7 install.
After you do post #12 could you answer this.

You are not answering Kaktussoft or my request. Is their a reason for that.
It is a Hitachi HD. I've had two of these Lenovos. First one was DOD when I took it out of the box. Bad hard drive. It got hit by lightening a seek after I got the new HD from Lenovo. So I got another and the HD went bad in it a month after having it.
I'll PM the info on where I got the Win 7. I have been using it for over a year.
The product recovery CD that came with the machine has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit as the OS.
Hitachi is western digial as far as I remember.
