I just got this laptop from my dad, and for some reason every time i turn it on, it goes from the gateway screen straight to the Windows Boot Manager screen. Please help.

    my windows boot manager says:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

    1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer
    2. Choose your language settings, and then click "Next."
    3. Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

    File: \windows\system32/winload.exe

    Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

Use the install dvd/repair cd to run startup repair. It might take 3 runs.

What do you mean it is not working?

    Does it boot ?

    does it run ?

Is it giving you any messages.

My crystal ball is not to hand at the moment.

You have to tell your machine to boot from the cd/dvd drive

If you don't it will just try and boot from the Hard drive.

When you first boot up.. watch the screen for the key to press to get into boot selection . You might have F11 or similar saying boot menu or boot selection - if you have , that will load a one time boot selection menu from which you can choose cdrom drive.

If you don't have that, then you need to enter bios setup to - normally it will be Del, Esc, F1 or F2.

    as shown below:
