From what I read it seems to me that sysprep actually installs default drivers and later the included. motherboard drivers can be installed.

Perhaps someone who has used sysprep could chime in to clear some doubts.

Yes, it does install default drivers. It does NOT remove old drivers.

Sysprep is like reverting Windows back to the First Start mode, except you get to start with all of your programs and drivers and whatnot.
