Cannot Reinstall W7 OPS with recovery discs on new HD HP Laptop
Hello, I have a HP Pavillion dv6t CTO 3200, Intel i3, 320GB, 7200rpm, Hitachi HD that was giving me Smart Error 303,301. Still working but close to end. Bought Exact same Hitatchi HD and cannot seem to install OPS from self made recovery discs. I put new drive in and loaded all 7 discs and seemed to load fine, then stuck on HP Logo for hours. Reinstalled discs again, and now I get HP Logo and then black screen with flashing - at top left, like it is not booting. Have moved Bios to load from DVD/CD and also HD after installation and no go. Wierd thing is that I pass all memory, HD Quick Test & HD Full Test. Smart is not installed on new drive. Fact is I made the recovery discs from my brothers laptop since he had never made any. Same exact computers with consecutive Serial numbers since I bought them together. Same machines in every way. But we had them 28 months before I made the recovery discs. When I installed I managed to see that they put partions on HD but recovery D: is now X: and shaded out. Also they were not the same size as the old ones. So I have a new HD and no way to find out how to make it work. I used Windows 7 Repair disc & Windows 7 64bit I down loaded and no go. I am not sure if it is a boot system error or not. When I go into the Logs of the NEW HD I see the 0301 code. Not sure if this is it. Since it passed all tests. Is there a way to use my brothers computer to "Slave" my OPS? I am at a loss. have some experience , just enough to be dangerous !LOL ! I have had bad exsperince with HP-Factory Discs before, so I would like to solve this myself if possible. Hope you can help me. PLEASE.
