System restore points vanish.

I've had my Sony Vaio laptop for 2 years: Windows 7 Home Premium w/SP1. 64 bit. Intel Core i5.
Recently I discovered that my System Restore points are disappearing.

They create with no problem.
And I tested a restore and it restored me with no problem.
But daily I will check System Restore and I have the Red X telling me that I have no SR points.

I've done:
About 8 different anti-virus/rootkit/boot time scans, and they've turned up nothing.
Did scannow and ckdsk with fix/repairs and they've turned up nothing.
Turned off Sys.Restore, rebooted, turned back on, rebooted, no change.
Deleted all SR points, completed new ones, no problem.

I ran Windows diagnostic on my Memory and Hard Drive, no problems.

So I kept checking SR after everytime I'd do something or use a program.

It now appears that when I am running a lot of streaming videos at the same time my Memory goes up to as high as about 91%, and sometimes (fairly often) Adobe Flashplayer crashes.
But even if it doesn't, it is then that I lose my SR points.

I just uninstalled/rebooted/reinstalled Adobe Flash for IE and Firefox.

I've been planning to double my memory anyway from 4 GB to 8GB.
Hopefully that will solve the problem.
But I've had the computer for almost 2 years, and this is a new problem, and I've always streamed a lot of video simultaneously (not all the time but once in awhile) and had Adobe Flash crashes.
But never affecting the SR's.

So I'm not sure if the Memory upgrade will do it, as it's a new problem.

Trying to avoid reformatting Windows to a Sony factory restore.

Go through the Notes, Warnings and Tips in this tutorial. Make sure your compter's settings are as suggested.

System Restore Point - Create

If all of your settings are correct, you may have damaged or corrupt system files that are interfering with system restore. You said you ran "scannow". Did you run it from an elevated command prompt (option two?) Try running it again and if problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer immediately following each scan.

Yes, I ran it from an elevated command prompt.

I started clicking on System Restore everytime I opened an app, turned on or off or hibernated or switched user, etc.

Twice now when Adobe Flash has crashed on a website/websites in my Firefox browser, I have lost my System Restore points.

I have the latest Firefox browser, the latest Adobe Flashplayer ActiveX and Plugin.

I guess I'll have to try posting this problem on the Adobe Flash forums.

I've googled this problem and there are countless cases of people losing System Restore points and when a solution has been found it's cause has varied, but I haven't found any posts connecting the problem to Adobe Flash.

I did follow the Adobe Flash troubleshooting from the Adobe Flash site and the Mozilla site, and yesterday uninstalled/reinstalled it.
If the problem happens again, I'll strictly use IE for awhile until I verify that it happens on that browser as well.

I've had Flash crash a few times today, but didn't lose the SR points.
I suspect it's a combination of using a high % of my RAM combined with Adobe Flash problems - there are also countless cases of people having problems with Adobe Flash and Adobe Flash crashing posted on internet forums, but haven't seen any connected with losing SR points. I could be blazing new ground with my problem.

If you have any other suggestions I'd be interested...

Yes, I'm afraid it's going to come to that.

Hate to do it though - time consuming, etc.

What browser were you using?

I'm using Firefox, but will strictly use IE for a day or so until the same thing happens there to satisfy myself that it's not unique to Firefox - although I'd be shocked if that's the case - seems to be a MS/Adobe Flash issue.
