    Restoring computer from dvd disks

Hi folks, i had somebody burn me a system image of my whole computer system when it was clean, i just want to know if i do have issues in the future how would i restore my computer with these two disks . I know how to boot from disk but thats about it.

I have always re installed when i had severe malware issues but i was told that i could just use a system image to make it easier.

    Thank you very much

    Hi herbc,

If you have used the windows backup and restore utility to perform the same. Then kindly check the links below:

OK, i have a few questions. I do believe the system image was done using windows but i am wondering why i can't check the top box (in screenshot) to format my computer first then use the system image disks .

I have completed a trial run and restored my computer with the system image but my concern is unless you format first malware can still be on the computer . If and when i encounter a bad malware infection where i would use the system image that is.

    Thanks for any insight

    Hi herbc,

This might happen if the setup is unable to detect any partitions on the harddrive or harddrive has not been detected.

So you should load the chipset drivers for your system and then you should be able to format the partition on the system.

Please use install driver option and by use of the pen drive load the correct chipset drivers and try again.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

I didn't know that program was a pay program, this computer had win 7 recently reinstalled from a legit Asus dsk by a professional repair service so is it really necessary to reinstall the drivers to be able to reformat my system if a malware issue develops?

In device manager it shows all drivers installed .

    Hi herbc,

Please let me know the model number of the system so we can check for the relevant drivers that you would need.

Kindly update your system specs here by following this.

Did you make a system image backup on the DVDs or a USB drive. For backup software to detect the hardware it needs to load the driver. Some softwares have built in drivers for most of the system and some has to be added manually.

If you have a USB drive then perform another backup and check if it works fine. Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

    Hi herbc,

Thanks for your reply. Please transfer the Chipset and Intel Rapid Storage driver from the website below and then use install driver option to load these drivers:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download U56E

Once drivers are loaded properly you should be able to load system backups properly provided the backups are done correctly.

Please check the same and let us know the results. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.
