    System Restore messed up games.

So yesterday I accidentally set all .exe files to open in Notepad (I know, very stupid). I did a system restore, and it fixed that. But it also screwed up some of my games graphics. After restoring, everything seemed fine until I started Age of Empires 1 for a celebratory match. But when I got to the main menu, the graphics were totally distorted. Pixelated and yellowish with rainbow colors everywhere. Now this happened with the game when I first bought it (same goes for all other games I will mention in this post) but I fixed the graphics fine. This seems to be a totally unrelated problem, that came from the system restore. I then tried AOE 2, and both 1 and 2's expansions, all the same. Then I opened diablo 1, same. It's so incredibly frustrating when these games, which I just barely got to not have weird graphics, are suddenly ruined again by some totally unknown and unfixable problem. I know it has nothing to do with the games themselves or with compatibility because I have tried every fix that people said worked. I've alt tabbed out then went back in, Ive started the game then alt tabbed out and killed explorer.exe then went back in, I've made a bat file that does that automatically, for all these games. How can a system restore suddenly make old games graphics look so bad? Please someone help, these are some of my favorite games.

Undo the system restore. To repair the opening of exe files by notepad:
    exe - Executable application files.
Just doubleclick the link and import.

Ah! Okay I will post specs here, and I'll update my page later. I am just copy/pasting specs to post, so there will be random unnecessary stuff too.
