    Partial cloning

    Hi,

I have a windows 7 64 system installed on an SSD drive (C:). Due to limited space, I've switched the location of the users folder (according to User Folders - Change Default Location), program files and program files (x64) to another drive, which I'll denote as drive 1 (E:). So far so good.
Unfortunately, drive 1 run its course and due to SMART failures, I've purchased another drive, drive 2, copied all the contents of drive 1 to it, renamed it in computer management to E:, and renamed drive 1 to drive M.

Naively, I thought I'm done and I can now disconnect drive 1 from my system. Apparently, I can't. Whenever I try to disconnect it my computer won't boot. What am I doing wrong? Is there some logical reference I didn't change? What should I do

Mate I am a bit confused to the title partial cloning when you say cloning what exactly does that mean.

What you could do is run Partition Wizard with all three drives installed and open each out using "Explore" and see just what is in them. Sounds like to me you have mucked up the boot on the SSD.

It sounds as if the System Reserved partition containing the boot manager was located on the old E:. To confirm this, insert the old E: back into the computer, boot it up, and then follow these instructions:
