Firewire or eSATA running Win 7

Backing up to my 500gb usb 2.0 drive takes 18 hours ! There must be a quicker way.

I have an eSATA port and 4 pin Firewire port (1EEE 1394a).

if anyone can suggest which is the cheapest/best option to use I would be grateful. And also advise me of the requirements I need to use these ports.

Firewire is about the same speed as USB2.0. eSATA is the faster of the two.

There must be some other problem or the external USB drive is not 2.0. I have backed up a standard hard drive (entire drive contents of approx. 500GB) to an external USB 2.0 drive in about an hour or so, using backup software such as Macrium Reflect or Acronis True Image (my current backup software is Macrium Reflect).

However, if I just copy from one drive to another it will take a long time.

Thanks you have made me think that the 500gb usb I bought a few years back may be USB 1.0, I will check.
