Backups used to take 2 DVDs now its 5 Why?

I do backups from Windows "Backup & Restore" every 2 months.
In the past a backup to DVD would use 2 DVDs. This month it is 5
In the past I have done backup to flash drive as well (16GB). Now it will not fit on it.
I have not knowingly increased my folders/files or programs.
So it seems that the Windows selection of data to backup has suddenly increased.
I did consider getting round the problem by making my own selection of what to backup; but I do not know which folders/files to select!

I have made it a habit to run Disk Cleanup before EVERY image backup, including the option to examine system files. You might be surprised how much stuff that will remove.

As to the growth, it could be both Windows Updates and temporary internet files.

How to backup double-sided mini-DVDs onto regular DVDs?
-> Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bits Hi All! I have a Sony Camcorder that uses mini-DVDs. Now, the goal is to make a backup of them. So I made an ISO of the mini-DVD, then, burnt it onto a regular DVD in order to test it. All seems to work fine. Now, the problem is that I waste 1 regular DVD...
