I reinstalled windows 7 (activated), can i restore files from a clone?

firstly, i have changed hardware. i tried to boot from the same HDD and got the BSOD. (drivers?) i made a clean install and restored windows.old. i'm not happy with the restore. i'm missing just about everything. i have cloned windows 7 and i would like to know if there was a way i can either restore windows from the clones or just boot from the cloned drive, with fixed drivers and use it as a primary drive. i don't have much time, i need to return the primary HDD soon and need to clone it to my secondary. i used acronis to clone the HDD, dunno if that helps.

You did a clone. Attach the clone to the system. What error when you boot? What hardware did you change?
You have a CD/DVD with drivers for changed hardware (or know where to dind them on internet)?

    BSOD was stopcode 7B?

it worked! a couple of bugs but it worked! i'm now having problems with windows activation. is there any way to take my old hard drive account and transfer it to the new hard drive i used to make a clean install? even if its a backup/restore can i do that? reason being is i don't want to have to worry about windows activation. also, do i need to worry about windows activation with another HDD but on the same computer? when i made the clean install windows was activated.

What worked.... what did you do?

Another HDD on same computer.... you can enter the same product key.

    All is explained in tutorial.

What's the problem with activation? Can you activate with the key you have?

Make backups instead of clones... they are smaller and (dependent of which backup program) more flexible.
