Restore Completes But Files Do Not Appear

I backed up to a WD external drive and have gone through the process of restoring my old files following a fresh install of Windows 7.

The restore process runs with no problems at all, but after completion, the files don't appear anywhere. I can see them zipped up when I go directly into the WD external drive. Also, I'm able to restore "Public" files, but the "User" files won't restore.

If all else fails, I'm going to have to individually unzip each folder and manually place it in the right location.

Anyone ever heard of this problem?

Hello Jeni, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I'm sorry to hear that your backup doesn't appear to contain your files. Did you have an option to select a backup from a different date that may contain them instead?

If all else fails, then yeah you could manually extract the files in the backup if they are there.

If you happen to also have a system image, then you could also manually extract the files from it as well.

Hope this helps for now, :)
