I uninstalled Zone Alarm (Latest free Anti Virus & Firewall) and Backup goes through to next screen.
I thought snoozing the ZA Firewall and AntiVirus would take any effects of ZA out of the picture.... I was wrong. I thought doing a "clean boot" would certainly take ZA out of the picture... I was wrong again! ZA must habve made some changes (Registry?) that on my system caused issues with Backup.
I'll run a back up and reinstall ZA to see if this was just a 1st windows 7 Backup up issue of if ZA makes some changes that prevents Backup from either completing or throwing a proper error.
I'm not sure if this applies.... but I read a thread that mentioned issues with ZA and SSD drives. I DON'T have a SSD but I DO have a 2T Seagate Hybrid drive. It carries a large (8G?) chunk of SSD memory that it uses as a large cache. Not saying this IS hardware specific, but just giving some details that could help someone else having the maddening issues I've had tracking this down.
