Hubs are simply repeaters, not boosters - a booster is something which attempts through software to increase the bandwidth available to the port (or at least that's my understanding)

NoelDP is correct, hubs are not boosters, so a hub like Roland describes should not cause this system restore problem.

When you bought your hub did it come with any software? Usually they don't, but if it did, that might be causing the problem. A hub can work fine using the generic dlls that come with windows.

Sometimes the USB boosters software also uses the term accelerator-so check if you have any software for your usb ports that is suppose to speed up the USB data transfer.

    I hope this helps.
