System Restort Points Not Showing Up

Task Scheduler shows that daily restore points are supposedly being created, but none of them are showing up under the System Restore Wizard as available restore points.

Here is paste from History in Task Scheduler:

Since, for example, on 5/26, the "supposed" action took only 2 seconds, does this mean that the action was not really taken? However, even on the dates where the "supposed" task took 2 minutes, that point still is not showing up.

I have allocated 100% space for Restore Points, and still no scheduled Restore Points showing up.

I have tried the Troubleshooting steps from this site, and still not fixed.

Any tips on how to get Windows to really make daily Restore Points and really show them in the System Restore Wizard so I can use them when needed? Thanks in advance.

With Windows 7, automatic scheduled restore points will only be created if no other restore points have been created within seven days.

If you want them daily, you will need to create them yourself or create a task to do it automatically.

Really appreciate your post, but you didn't read or understand my OP.

I DID create daily SR task through Event Scheduler and according to Event Scheduler, the tasks are being successfully completed daily. But these supposed SR points are not showing up in the SR wizard. How to make sure the points are really being created, and to make sure they show up in the SR wizard?

Any input from anybody is appreciated.

    I did read you post.

In your original post, you did not say that you created a daily task only that one was run.

If it was the preinstalled System Restore point task in the scheduler, it runs daily but checks to see if any restore points were created within seven days, and will not create a new restore point if true.

Maybe we are narrowly missing each other by reading extremely literally and not trying to answer, or make clear questions, beyond this extreme literal reading.

OK, so I get your point which you have made twice now that, in effect, the preinstalled System Restore will only create at most one SR point every 7 days, even if you make a daily SR point in Task Scheduler and Task Scheduler itself claims that it has created these points every day (see the printout below in my OP).

Two questions, which I will try to make as clear as possible:

    1. If the preinstalled SR is supposed to, at least, make one point every 7 days if I have a scheduled task to make a SR point daily, why are NO, I repeat NO, periodic SR points showing up in the SR Wizard, ie, even 7 day interval SR points are not showing up? Why not? How do I correct this?

    2. Suppose I really, really want to make daily SR points. Trust me, I certainly have scheduled daily SR points in Task Scheduler, and again, TS is claiming that it is making these points (see printout below). What ELSE do I have to do in TS to really, really make daily SR points. True, I am apparently using the preinstalled SR, and you say this preinstalled SR is "adamant" in its refusal to make daily points. What command do I use instead of the preinstalled SR in order to really, really make daily SR points? Or is there something else I have to do beyond or instead of modifying the preinstalled SR to really, reallly create daily SR points?

Hopefully, my questions are clear enough to merit an answer which will actually help me solve this issue. Appreciate the input.

What I have said is that the preinstalled TASK of creating restore points daily will only do so if no other restore points have been created (Manual, etc.) for seven days. The System Restore itself has no such limit. If you have created, yourself, a Task for creating restore points daily, I don't see why it shouldn't work.

What action (executable) are you scheduling and from where?

Just a thought that may or my not help.
Are the restore point on the same partition and drive that Windows 7 is on.

This tutorial by Brink is a good read and could be helpful.

Have a look at this tutorial,

System Restore Point : Create at System Startup

That may be useful for daily restore points should you really, really want to.
