Restore old Desktop File after reinstall windows

Help Me,yesterday I upgraded my XP to Windows 7.and i forgot i got important file in my XP desktop and i upgrade it to Windows 7..Already tried using recovery tools but cant find it either , i can find my other file from other folder except from desktop..does file from desktop have different system storage or what?How can i Recover my data T.T

Hello Senryu, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If this wan an upgrade and not a clean install, then check to see if you may have a C:\Windows.old folder that may contain the file.
