    A couple of backup questions

I am going to reinstall Windows 7 its a Premium version. At the moment the PC has 2 HDDs C and D, C contains windows and D has my date.

    My Questions.
I would like to backup C after i have done the install of Windows and got all the drivers setup. Is it best to activate windows before i do the backup.

If i use something like Clonzilla will the image fit on a DVD

Yes, activate before you make the image. Why not? If you don't activate it first and then restore the image, you'd have to activate after the restoration.

The image is not likely to fit on one DVD. It might fit on 5 DVDs, but DVDs are a poor place to put images--they are just less reliable than a hard drive. Use DVDs only as a last resort if you absolutely have no other choice. Be prepared for DVDs to fail and know what you will do when that happens.

Clonezilla should work, but it's not the preferred tool on this forum.

    I use Todo Backup.
    Todo Backup Free
Its reliable. I have used it to restore everytime my system needs a Rollback.

The most often recommended tool here is Macrium Reflect Free Edition.

Other good ones include Aomei Backupper and Paragon Backup and Recovery Free.
