cannot create a system repair disc- error (0x80070057)

Hi folks

I am sure this problem has been posted before sorry apologies if I am going over old ground. I am trying to create a System Repair Disc for Win 7 Home premium - 32bit. However i contiually get an error message "cannot create a system repair disc- error (0x80070057)". Cannot find a solution as yet.

In truth do i need one if I have an original installation disc?

Hi martyn64 and welcome to Seven Forums,
Are you using a DVD or a CD?
I would recommend a CD-R.
You can't carry out a backup operation until you set it up.
Click Start>>>>Control Panel>>>>System & Security>>>>Backup & Restore.
Also run a sfc /scannow

Unanswered threads are better off answered or entirely deleted rather than left dangling. They just clutter the internet with search results that are worse than useless (i.e. they bog down getting to a meaningful answer.) I came across this thread in my own search before I found the answer thread, so I have returned to post.

"The problem is most likely caused if you have a Truecrypt volume mounted when trying to create the system repair disc. Simply dismount the Truecrypt volume, clear the error, and the system repair disc will be created."

I have verified that dismounting all TrueCrypt volumes allows one to retry creating a repair disc successfully.

The answer was provided by misterlance in a related thread.
