moving entire C drive contents from one laptop to another

Here is my scenario. Dell Win 7 64 laptop. Spilled coffee on the keyboard. Would not even turn on. Took it to a tech who advised its toast. He was able to copy the entire C Drive from the Dell hard drive on to a 1 TB external drive.

Now I have purchased a new Samsung Win 7 64 laptop. Can I just move all the files from the Dell C drive to the Samsung C drive and end up with the same things I had?

    Thanks,

    TRS

You say the tech was able to "copy the entire C drive".

If that was just an ordinary copy with the mouse, then the only thing you could copy back would be your personal data files, if any of that was on C. Pictures, videos, mp3s, etc.

You could NOT copy back your Windows installation from the old C and expect it to work.

You say "move all the files" from the old to the new. If that includes Windows files, then no. Personal files, yes.

I'm guessing your new machine has Windows, so you wouldn't want to copy the old Windows to it.

You'll have to reinstall your old programs.

All you can do now is copy the data and media files. Install programs again in new laptop, that you had in old laptop.
Your older one is Dell and new is Samsung. Even if he had made a image of C drive, that image won't be compatible with new machine.
    Just Copy files.
