Back up Advisory pop ups - how to turn off

I have a new PC with Windows 7 ultimate 64 and want to turn off the annoying pop up messages telling me 'I can back up' etc. I have no schedule in place , un-clicked in the Notification Area and in Action Centre.
Can anyone please tell me where else I must go to get rid of these messages.

Hello Walkage, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Did you turn off (uncheck) the Windows Backup message option in Action Center and click on OK like below?

Action Center - Change Message Settings

If so, then please post a screenshot showing the pop-up message to see if it may be for something else. :)

Not sure about posting a screen shot, but a message appears as soon as I turn on the PC - Did you know you have free PC backup on your computer.
Then another message pops up while I'm on the PC saying - Free PC Protection for Windows 7 backup your data to cloud.
Still can't find where to turn all these off..

When you open the Action Center, do you see a message like under step 4 below to turn it off?

I have not seen any Windows update messages but I have unticked the boxes re Backup and also in the Notification area. Maybe I will just have to live with the messages.......

Is the pc store bought eg Dell etc, if so it may have a 3rd party backup program (nothing to do with Windows - part of what forum users call bloatware). Have a look what programs are installed, and if there is a backup utility installed. You should be able to either uninstall it, or modify when it starts.

Now you have the annoying backup message fixed, it's still a good idea to do backups on a regular basis - when you decide. Either data backup or image the whole drive. Tutorials are available on this forum.
