    System Restore help..

    Hi,

In Windows 7, how can I set automatic restore points? In Windows XP the calender would show up and you would pick the date, etc. Can this be done with Windows 7?

    Hope I'm making myself clear.

Your reply and help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

There's an error in that thread...since when does Windows creat restore points at every boot and 12pm every day? In my system it certainly doesn't.

    Hi Peter,

In Task Manager there is a SR task for System Restore that is suppose to check for changes and create a restore point at each cold system startup it detects changes. It does not apply when Windows 7 wakes up though. At least, this is what the task is suppose to do.

I found the task finally and it has never run, probably because it was set to only run when idle, which is never when and if I'm booted into the W7 partition. I changed the user name to myself from "System" and was then able to change all that. Hopefully it will now run. (Settings were all greyed out until I changed the user name).

LOL, I guess that would explain why. I hope it runs for you now. :)

Update...it wont run...darn it. I'll just go on making manual restore poiints. I seem to remember similar issues in Vista and XP.
