    After Windows update, cannot login nor restore system

    Hi,

    Last night, my laptop processed Windows updates. This morning, when I tried to turn my computer back on, start up was very slow and once I finally got to the log in screen, I couldn't login. I received a message stating "user login cannot be used" and "user profile cannot be loaded". My login is the only account with administrator capabilities. I logged into the guest account, which is the only other account. However, when I am able to get to system restore, I cannot begin he system restore because I don't have admistrative privileges. I've also tried to do a system restore by pressing F7, but then I need a restore point and I receive the message that I do not have a restore point. I cannot create a restore point because I do not have administrative privileges. And so on. By trying to follow the questions and reading threads posted here, I also tried to turn on the system protection, but that tab is missing. So, from what I can figure, I need to restore my system to yesterday morning or the day before, but I can't do anything without administrative privileges. I've also tried to enable the built-in administrator account by going into the local users and groups folder and I receive an error message stating that "access is denied."

    I appreciate any help that you can offer. I'm not a tech expert, but I can follow instructions. Again, thank you. Please let me know what other information you need.

    Thank you, Oscer. I tried both of those and neither worked. When I went to the last known good configuration, it started and I received the same login error. Then I tried repair my computer, went to system restore and I am back to needing a restore point. Any other thoughts?

    I haven't. Well, I did login using safe mode and I received a message stating that I have been logged in with the default profile for my system. But, even in safe mode, I can't do anything without admin rights.

    System restore does not work because the system needs a restore point. The message I receive is "No restore points have been created on your computer's system drive." I cannot create a restore point because I do not have the system protection option/tab.

    repair your computer->command prompt

    Code:
    dir  c:\users
    dir  d:\users
    dir  e:\users
    On what drive letter is your user account? Assume it is P. Of course replace P with actual drive letter!!

    Code:
    Dism /Image:P:\WINDOWS  /Get-Packages /Format:Table > P:\patches.txt
    Copy P:\patches.txt to an usb stick and post.

    So there are no restore points, so system restore is not an option. Why rollback the patches??? the user profile has already been damaged.
