Accessing the systems recovery options window

I have a Toshiba laptop which, when I press the F12 boot up facility, goes to Aptio Set Up Utility. I have been told that this is BIOS.

I have made a system repair disc but cannot see what is on it, i.e. test it since am unable to access the systems recovery options window (which lists "start up repair"). How can I get this window to appear?

Tried that....i.e. holding down F8 and power on...briefly came on but then went off again. In fact, this started to occur with F12 too! I eventually was able to get back into Aptio Set Up Utility by pressing the F2 key but this is the BIOS and, as mentioned, am unable to access the systems recovery options window. Is it something peculiar to Toshiba laptops? Can I boot up from the Aptio window? (It has a boot option there but not boot power)

you dont hold down the F8 button you just tap it every second when turning on the laptop.

Tapping the F8 key every second unfortunately did nothing but I have now got it sorted! I will describe the process in case someone else has the same problem.

When the Aptio Set Up Utility screen comes up, you use the navigation arrows to go to 'boot', then use F6 key to get ODD: TSS to top of list.
This then enables the booting procedure to get to the systems recovery option window.
