System Recovery cancelled at 78% Now stuck on safemode screen
New to this forum.
Not computer literate at all... so very grateful for any help to get back into my HP laptop (win7 home 34bit).
I dropped it on the floor. It seemed like it was working but then I shut it down incorrectly.
it asked me to set up normally or in safe mode.
I selected safe mode but it wouldnt go to the normal home page.
I turned it on and off a few times.
Then got a blue screen with a kind of sunray.
After a while an HP recovery dialogue apeared and I selected a recovery (I think) to an earlier point with a full system back up.
The computer started to analyse what needed to be done - and then a screen appeared saying 32gb of data needed to be backed up.
So I pressed start. And ran out to buy a 64gb usb stick.
When I returned - the screen said 78% back up prepared.
But then it froze at 78% for hours.
The next stage would have been to burn to cd or usb. But with a frozen system I panicked and just turned off the computer again.
And since then I can not get beyond the sun ray blue screen.
I have tried pressing F11 again and again and did get a black box and white "recovery" but then the black box disappeared in 1 second and just the blue sun ray screen remains - for hours.
I do not know what to do.
Is there anything I can do to get back into my computer and save all the valuable docs & pics?
Very grateful.
Bad timing just before Xmas....
