    BACKUP new or old

I was hapy using ntbackup because it let me create weekly bu's. What I mean is that I would have 4 bu's per month. Week1,week2,..week4. THat way I could go back serveral weeks if I needed to.

I do not see this capability with the new backup in win7? It doesn't let me "Name" bu's? Maybe I am missing something. IF I use the win7 bu and do incremental, will that be similar to what I was doing before?

If you have enough room on your partition, you can save more than one backup. As the partition gets full, earliest backup is erased. Remember, on that partition you are saving image backups, system restore and all your files. I have 95gbs in my save partition and I have enough room for 3 image back ups, my documents and a weekly system restore back up.
When you want to restore an image, you will see what is available and you can choose.

Can I also have two different backups with win7? With ntbackup I had one bu of a few selected files that saved to a network location and I had another that did a compete system bu and saved to a USB hard drive. I do not see how something like this can be done with win 7 bu?

it appears that you can, but to be sure. Make a back up, wait a while then make another. Try to restore, if you have more than one saved it will give you a choice. If it just hums along making its restoration, only one copy can be saved.

There are 3 separate back up modes. One is called backup and restore. It gives you the capablility of backing up all of your files. When you restore you have the option to reinstall all, just a file or just a folder.
I got confused, with the 3 options, make sure you are using backup and restore.

I meant to only Backup ONE file. Is there an option for that?

No, one limitation on the Win 7 BU, is that you cannot back up only one file.
In addition to my scheduled weekly bacups. Whenever I change an important file in my docs or pictures, I make a copy on a flash drive. So, I have weekly schedluled backups, you have daily, and I do document backups of flash as needed.

While on this subject...Can you backup to and restore from a USB hard drive using windows backup? Some backup programs only allow you to backup and restore to only another internal HDD.

I am only sure that you can use an external HD to back up when you are using system image. However, I do not THINK that you can back up to an external while using back up and restore (your files). You may want to look at some of the free back up software like Acronis.
