    Erase?

Accidentally pressed the erase option for 2 secs of HDScan utility. Had a fresh install of W7 Pro MS Off and and all apps on my laptop. I hadn't taken a back up image using Macrium, nor do I have system restore option activated.

It was running fine till I shut it and restarted, displayed no boot sector, gave various options none worked.

Tried booting through W7 Pro DVD.......before install tried repair tools......now get a message invalid partition table.

Bottom line any fix besides another fresh install and updating and installing apps?

Hoping to hear from you W7 geekers.

    Thanks.

The reason for posting is that I need 1 working pc which am using now before I install SSD drives on both.

If I install SSD on both simultaneously(shall have to fresh install W7 again) how would I communicate, reply to prof mails.........using my cell.......no way too old my eye sight is deteriorating.

So if this can be fixed I could start on SSD on the one am using. Dont mind about how good the fix is, as long as it works since shall have install W7 again on the lap.......so 1 vs 2 installs.

You can try to fix the MBR with the bootable CD of Partition Wizard.

Got no help with the boot CD.

    1. When I try to install W7 clean using DVD, stalls at which drive to select, its blank NO DRIVE?

    2. "No drives found, Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation."

    3. Click on Load driver.

    4. Displays to load driver use floppy CD, DVD or flash.

    5. When click on browse see C drive, and Boot X having all windows files........where do I find drive drivers?

    6. When double clicked on C displays Do you want to format, when clicked on format says windows cant format C......Check the disk and drives are connected properly etc..........

    7. In Boot X drive, see Program folders, Sources, Users, and Windows........all main folders?

    8. Where would the drivers for the drive be located?

    9. Took out the WD 3200 BKT and inserted in but same, and yes is pretty warm.........would the SSD be as warm and do they heat up too?

    Hoping to hear from you,

    Thanks.

Cant post screen shots as am on desktop.

It also displayed a message once dont recall how.......that it read only and not write or vice versa some thing like that?

My fault shouldn't have been playing with a powerful tool like HDScan......

Boot sequence is HDD, Optical, NIC........if started with with W7 DVD, without pressing F12 key for boot options.......get a blank screen.......with " Error!"

    Used the bootable CD.

    1. Scanned through wizard, saw quite a few Linux etx4 lost/deleted partitions along with W7, System Reserved, Active C and D......W7 and all data was there.

    2. Deleted the Linux ones detected.

    3. 3 were left than, was getting Boot Mgr missing error, but could not repair System reserved/MBR.....since MBR in options was dull and not highlighted..strange?

    4. After several failed attempts, formatted and deleted each 3 one after the other.......now have a 320 GB one drive.

    5. Tried installing W7,now it can locate the drive normally, no partition, drive errors.....but have to go through an ordeal of re installing W7, Office updates and all apps.

    6. No wonder was getting some SMART issues detected by a member on this drive, due to Linux et4 partitions, detected when ran GSmart before HDScan utility.

    7. Why didn't the MBR option not get highlighted?

    8. Should I use this bootable CD to wipe the drive with zeros and create partitions before installing W7?

    Thanks.
