Probably one of the best is Macrium Reflect. Used by many members here. I use it and it helped me twice. It is free.

You mentioned Acronis True Image, it works well once you get past the geek-learning curve.

I use Acronis True Image 2010 Home (with Plus pack) and Paragon BR 14 free on my desktop, and Macrium free and Paragon free on laptop.

I like Acronis more than the other two but it is paid so should be some difference.

Acronis and Paragon can exclude folders and files from the image which is a good feature over Macrium in my opinion.

I use Macrium Reflect to image my C: drive (C: partition on my single drive notebooks). I do not keep any data files on my C: drive/partitions. Since imaging is too inefficient for backing up my data drives/partitions, I use a free folder/file syncing program called FreeFileSync to backup them up.

Acronis works well. If you have a seagate or wd drive you can use their stripped down free version to image.

Yes you can use the backup file over and over.

If you try freefilesync watch for the bundled adware.
