    Hi,
I believe it's better to use a smaller device so it's not corrupted accidently = it is your image recovery :)

I use a 16GB multiboot USB stick prepared with YUMI YUMI.

Real easy to use. I added:
    - memtest86+-5.01
    - Win_Password_Reset
    - Partition_Wizard_Free_9
    - Ultimate_Boot_CD_ubcd533
    - SystemRescueCD-x86-4.5.2
    - PCLinuxOS64-kde-2014.12
    - KNOPPIX_V7.4.2DVD-2014-09-28-EN
    - Acronis_Media
    - Macrium_Rescue
    - Paragon_Recovery
    - Repair_disc_Windows_7_64-bit
    - Windows_7_Ultimate_x64_Setup
    - puredyne-911-carrot_and_coriander-DVD-amd64
    - AOMEI_Partition_Assistant_Pro_WinPE

DO I use all of these? No but nice to have just in case.

Oh and if you put Win7 Repair Disk in you will have to modify menu.lst file with notepad to resemble the below format:
    Code:
title Windows 7 32-bit Repair Disc
     find --set-root /multiboot/ISOS/Win7_32bitRepairDisc.iso
     map (hd1) (hd0)
     map /multiboot/ISOS/Win7_32bitRepairDisc.iso (hd32)
     map --hook
     root (hd32)
     chainloader /BOOTMGR
This changes the USB and HDD mappings, otherwise repair disk will see USB and offer to repair it etc.

As far as I know, all of the above (Win7 repair disk excluded) should work on XP too as they have no connection to the OS. They will even work if there is no OS installed.

Not sure about password reset program though, but that's an old program so even that should work. By the way, I renamed that one, actual name is (Offline) NT Password Reset (and Registry Editor) if you wish to download it.

you can use yumi for Linux too

title Windows 7 32-bit Repair Disc find - that part is a fix you need to make in order for a Windows 7 Repair Disk to work with yumi, it changes the hdd and usb drives order so that hdd becomes the 1st disk
