How to use Recovered System Restore File

I had a problem with my computer and I am in the process of recovering my lost files...

While using Recuva I was able to recover a 2gb file from the System Volume Directory. I copied the file into my current System Volume Directory, however I believe because the file type is "file" rather than "system file" like the other saved restore points, system restore does not recognize it. How can I convert this into a system file?

Also is it possible to recover shadow copies and then use with shadow explorer to recover my files? where are shadow copies stored?

Yes you can recover files with Shadow Explorer. The shadows are stored in the shadowstorage but you need not worry about that - Shadow Explorer will find them. Here is a tutorial on how to use Shadow Explorer:

I have already tried shadow explorer but cant find a copy far back enough in time, so I am trying to use a file recovery programme to recover the system restore file or shadow copy file in order to use to recover my files...
