Enable system protection on drive c

When I turn my computer on it will load the windows logo then all I get is a black screen. I go I to F8 and try to do a system restore and it says I have to enable system protection on drive c but it shows restore points. Help

Try in F8 menu, Last Known Good Configuration.

Can you get in to Safe Mode (also F8 menu)?

Try sfc /scannow from the command prompt - SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot
also checkdisk - Option 2 - Disk Check

Then try a startup repair - Startup Repair

I tried all of that earlier. I had taken the hard drive out and was going to take it to have it tested but decided to put it back in and try one more time. The start up repair worked this time. Thanks so much GokAy for your time and your suggestions,I really appreciate it.
